Making peace with grief around your body or your youth

There is no “getting your body back.”

Because there is no body to go back to.

And the truth is, you might always grieve parts of your body, or traits of your youth…

And sometimes what you are grieving is actually the unknown.

What your body and life “could have been” if you only did this or that differently.

(This is a special kind of fantasy torture.)

I actually think that a lot of the fear we have around aging is the anticipation of grief itself. Worrying about what you may lose.

And what’s interesting about body grief is that sometimes, loving and enjoying certain aspects of your body can actually highlight the areas that you feel grief around.

And that’s a really hard thing to be with, especially when the perfectionism, obsession, and “if only” monsters start getting involved.

What I’ve learned is that trying to abolish grief is not the path to healing, or to feeling joyful and content in our bodies.

I think we need to make space for grief to exist within our lives. To nurture ourselves and stay in a deeply devoted, loving relationship with ourselves THROUGH that grief.

What do you do for a grieving person?

You comfort them, you listen to them, you soothe them, you validate them.

You don’t tell them that what they’ve lost “isn’t that important” or say “at least you still have xyz.”

And since there is literally no body to go back to, maybe the more loving and expansive thing to do is to move forward.

Honor the grief AND move forward. Loving and nurturing what is now.

That’s EVOLUTION.

There is a bigger, more beautiful, embodied, sovereign you living life on the other side of wrestling with your “if only’s”.

You can fully enjoy and experience your gorgeous body when you start making peace with and moving through what you feel you’ve lost.

This was all part of your soul’s journey in this body. And all part of you deepening your self-connection.

There is so much beauty, sovereignty, and possibility available to us when we begin making peace with what we’ve lost and become excited about what’s next.

This is the kind of work I love exploring with women inside EVOLUTION, my 90-day private beauty mentorship.

We look at the whole picture. Your relationship with your body, your beauty, your self-care, your patterns, and your desires.

And from this place of presence, we begin shaping the woman you’re becoming.

If you’re craving this kind of personalized support and a deeper relationship with yourself, I’d love to work with you inside EVOLUTION.
