The best collagen on the market is… your own!

To keep your existing collagen healthy and to promote new collagen synthesis in your skin… you need to think deeper than supplements and creams.

In a nutshell if you want to improve the health and promote more collagen synthesis in your skin:
1- TOUCH and massage your skin
2- Reduce stress
3- Reduce inflammation
4- Consume high quality amino acids and vitamins/minerals (especially C, zinc, and copper) yes taking collagen peptides can help with this!

1) Touch: Massage your face, neck, scalp, and body: Whether it’s massage, facial Gua Sha, facial cupping, or dry body brushing ~ your body NEEDS A THERAPEUTIC INFLUENCE to stimulate fibroblasts to trigger a rebuild response. Touch sparks the production of new collagen, elastin, B and T cells (immune cells) AND it brings you right into that parasympathetic relaxation/rebuild and repair response. Your body must receive the message that it’s time to remodel and lay down some new building blocks.

2) Reduce stress: When your body is in a state of real or perceived danger, it completely shuts down the repair and rebuild processes. During chronic stress, your skin is being broken down from normal life processes and environmental stressors faster than it can be repaired and rebuilt. The cure is to MAKE RELAXATION A PRIORITY. When you’re in the parasympathetic relaxation state, your body can actually rebuild your cells, your immune system, and your overall resilience.

3) Reduce inflammation: Aging happens on the cellular level. Metabolic waste build up in your system accelerates aging. Specifically, when there is inflammation in your tissues, the spaces between the cells are greater and therefore they can’t exchange oxygen and nutrients as they are intended to. This increases oxidative stress and free radicals in your body, and eventually cell death. Reducing stress and supporting your lymphatic flow is the best remedy.

4) Consume high quality amino acids and vitamins/minerals (especially C, zinc, and copper): Incorperate a wide vareity of protein sources into your diet including grassfed and wild meat sources, collagen peptides, bone broths, and gelatin. Aim to eat the rainbow and lean into vitamin C rich fruits and veggies year-round. I love adding a scoop of collagen peptides to my morning matcha.
